Cameron Calpin's Eagle Scout Project @ Great Falls National Park, Maryland

Hello, Troop 1154,

My name is Cameron Calpin and I am a Life Scout with Troop 1154. For my Eagle Scout
Service Project, I will be planting 400 saplings along Carol Creek in Great Falls
National Park, Maryland. This area of 0.96 acres became severely eroded during the
construction of the park’s entrance road. The saplings will be planted along the
south bank of the creek as part of the park’s buffer restoration efforts. In
addition, my project includes removing some very aggressive garlic mustard plants in
the park.

My project is scheduled for Saturday, April 26th, to coincide with Canal Pride Day.
This is a day when area citizens can volunteer to help with projects that benefit
Great Falls Park.

I am looking for volunteers and adult drivers to assist with my project. Since the
project is in Maryland, I will arrange for carpools to drive volunteers to and from
the park. Volunteers and drivers should plan to meet at Sanders Corner Elementary
School at 7:30 AM. Carpools will depart at 7:45 AM in order to arrive at Great
Falls National Park, Maryland by 8:30 AM. We will begin working on the project
promptly at 9:00 AM. Please note that permission slips will be required for
carpooling. I will send the form out later this week.

Please bring gardening gloves and wear clothing that you won’t mind getting dirty.
I am also in need of two wheelbarrows. I will provide the tools to plant the
trees.

Please sign up to volunteer and/or drive. Thank you very much in advance.

Brendan Spillare's Eagle Project Day 1 @ Eagle Ridge Middle School

We will be building an outdoor classroom in which we will
make and install 6 in ground benches and a mulch bed for the school. I asking
those who attend to bring their own tools. I will need: digging bars and
post hole diggers the most, along with- shovels, hammers, rakes, and several
cordless drills. Everyone will also need to bring their own work gloves if
you would like to use them when working because I will not be able to supply
them.

The project will be held outside to the left of the school
when facing the main entrance in the second courtyard (in-between the 6th and
7th grade halls) where the old outdoor classroom already is. And yes, we
will be having food on both days around 5:30. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER
BOTTLE. Please RSVP so I know how many people will be attending, several
adult volunteers are also needed, to RSVP or ask any questions, please email
me at: spillares4@verizon.net.

Thank you for all your help and support,

Brendan Spillare
